Russian Drone Strike Damages Northern Bridge In Kyiv
Repeated attacks on crossings over the Dnipro River threaten transport links and disrupt movement between the eastern and western halves of Ukraine's capital.

Russian forces struck Kyiv's Northern Bridge on Saturday, damaging its road surface and overhead trolleybus power lines. Mayor Vitali Klitschko announced the incident on the Telegram messaging app, stating that emergency responders were on their way to the scene.
Authorities halted vehicular traffic running across the bridge from the Dnipro River's left bank toward the right bank. City officials did not report any casualties immediately following the morning strike.
The incident follows repeated strikes on another key river crossing in the capital. Russian drones hit the Southern Bridge on Thursday and again on Friday, prompting authorities to close that crossing completely to both subway trains and motor vehicles.
The earlier attacks on the Southern Bridge damaged a support structure, road surfaces, crash barriers and protective subway fencing. Those closures caused long traffic jams across Kyiv as city transport services redirected drivers toward alternative routes. Movement across other river crossings, including the Paton Bridge and the Metro Bridge, also experienced heavy restrictions following the earlier strikes.
The bridges across the Dnipro River serve as critical links connecting eastern residential districts with central and western Kyiv. Moscow has maintained an intense air campaign against Ukrainian municipal infrastructure and transit hubs in recent weeks.
Emergency services and municipal engineering teams are assessing the physical integrity of the Northern Bridge before deciding when to reopen closed lanes to regular traffic.
