MOSCOW, Russia – Five people were killed and 10 others wounded early Tuesday in a Ukrainian drone attack on an industrial zone near the Russian capital, Moscow, Russian authorities reported, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. Just the previous day, on August 3, a Ukrainian drone strike ignited a fire at a Wildberries warehouse in Russia's Vladimir region, approximately 180 kilometers east of Moscow, injuring one person. This incident is one of many targeting the e-commerce giant, often described as Russia's equivalent of Amazon. Kyiv has publicly accused Wildberries of storing drone components and providing support to the Russian military, allegations that both Wildberries and the Kremlin deny. Other Wildberries facilities have been hit recently, including one in the Leningrad region, which caught fire, and another in the Tver region's village of Emmaus, which sustained damage from drone debris.

Since mid-July, there has been a noticeable increase in strikes against Wildberries facilities across Russia and Crimea. Beyond these, a fire was sparked at the Kirishi oil refinery in northwest Russia on August 3, following the fall of debris from a shot-down drone. Earlier, on July 27, a large-scale drone attack in the Rostov region, bordering Ukraine, resulted in five deaths, including a married couple and a child, and caused fires in an apartment complex and multiple warehouses. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had then claimed that Ukrainian forces attacked an export terminal in Rostov, as well as oil facilities in the Yaroslavl and Udmurtia regions, located far from the border.
