Five Charged in Alleged Plot to Attack White House UFC Event with Explosives, Snipers

Washington D.C. – Federal authorities have disrupted an alleged plot to launch explosive-laden drones and deploy snipers at a high-profile Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event held at the White House, resulting in charges against five individuals. The Department of Justice announced Tuesday that the intricate scheme, which aimed to target high-ranking government officials and event attendees, was thwarted through a multi-state investigation that led to arrests across four states just days before the planned attack. The event, "UFC Freedom 250," took place on Sunday, coinciding with President Donald Trump's 80th birthday and marking the nation's 250th anniversary.
Alleged Plot Unveiled: Drones, Snipers, and a Call for Revolution
Court documents unsealed Tuesday reveal a detailed and disturbing plan by the five defendants to sow chaos and violence at the White House event. The alleged plot involved deploying drones armed with unspecified explosives over the north side of the White House, intended to detonate and force attendees and "high-value targets" to evacuate. As crowds fled, alleged snipers were to open fire, targeting both the fleeing public and specific individuals. Tycen C Proper, a 19-year-old from Danville, Ohio, one of the charged individuals, allegedly told investigators that the attack was designed to "jumpstart" a revolution in the United States.
The group's alleged communication began on TikTok before shifting to the encrypted messaging app Signal, where the more detailed plans were reportedly developed. Affidavits filed in the cases indicate that potential targets included President Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and entrepreneur Elon Musk. Several U.S. Senators, including Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Tom Cotton of Arkansas, and members of West Virginia's congressional delegation, were also reportedly identified as targets. The alleged conspirators also discussed grievances such as U.S. support for Israel and the handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.
Multi-State Operation Leads to Arrests
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) became aware of the potential threat on June 10, just four days before the White House UFC event. This intelligence triggered a rapid, multi-state operation involving the FBI, local law enforcement agencies, and the Secret Service. FBI Director Kash Patel announced on social media that "multiple individuals" had been taken into custody in connection with the "potential threat," emphasizing that the "allegedly planned attacks were stopped cold."
Arrests were made over the past weekend in Ohio, Missouri, Nebraska, and California. The charged individuals are Tycen C Proper, 19, of Danville, Ohio; Bryan Omar Roa, 24, of Calimesa, California; Michael Alan Thomas, 32, of Pinon Hills, California; Daniel K Eskridge, 32, of Kidder, Missouri; and Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, 31, of Omaha, Nebraska. Law enforcement sources indicated that during the execution of search warrants, officers seized weapons, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and tactical gear from the suspects. However, no drones believed to be part of the plot have yet been recovered.
A crucial turning point in the investigation reportedly came when Tycen Proper's mother contacted local police with concerns about her son's firearms purchases and online communications. Proper was subsequently admitted to a hospital for homicidal ideation, where he reportedly admitted to planning the attack during an interview with law enforcement.
The Accused and Their Charges
Each of the five defendants faces at least one count of conspiracy to commit murder. Proper, the youngest of the accused, faces additional charges, including conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States, attempted murder of an officer or employee of the United States, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence, and transfer of a firearm used to commit a felony. Alvarez is also accused of conspiring to commit an offense against the United States.
Court filings detail various levels of involvement among the defendants. Alvarez, identified by the FBI as "Shepherd," allegedly devised a "tier system" for the group and provided maps of Washington D.C. along with instructions for the attack. Thomas allegedly admitted to helping plan the attack and encouraging others, while Roa reportedly denied involvement. Proper's communications showed he had discussed the plot with others and identified several lawmakers to be targeted due to their perceived support for Israel.
The alleged motivations cited by members of the group, according to court documents, centered on a belief that the United States was "headed in the wrong direction" and needed to be "torn down so that it could be rebuilt." Some members also expressed a desire that individuals associated with Jeffrey Epstein should not govern the country.
Implications for Security and Domestic Threats
The alleged plot underscores ongoing concerns about domestic extremism and the security challenges posed by individuals and groups seeking to destabilize government functions or target prominent figures. The White House, a symbol of American democracy, frequently hosts public events, necessitating robust security measures. The incident highlights the complex nature of detecting and neutralizing threats, particularly those coordinated online and involving individuals from disparate geographical locations.
FBI Director Patel commended the investigative work, stating that the law enforcement team is "built to detect, respond to, and bring to justice those who threaten the lives of American citizens – particularly during large gatherings like the historic UFC 250 fight." The swift disruption of this alleged plot averted what authorities describe as a "mass casualty event," demonstrating the persistent vigilance required to safeguard public safety and national security.
The five men remain in custody pending further legal proceedings. The Department of Justice and other federal agencies continue their investigation into the full scope of the alleged conspiracy, as the nation grapples with the implications of such a significant and sophisticated threat being conceived on American soil.
